A moment of clarity
Well, the title of this site says it all. Daydreamer. That's what I am all too often. Last week, after wasting yet another morning, I had a moment of clarity. I need to wake up. I need to be in the moment, fully awake and aware. I look around my house and see so many things I want put away, cleaned, thrown away, etc. But I don't do it. I think about my tutoring business and know what I could be doing to get more students. But I don't do it. I think about my own writing and think what I need to do next. But I don't do it.
Yikes! So why don't I get up each morning full of energy and ready to get going? I guess it's just not my nature. Instead, I get up and reach for my first cup of tea, then sit at this computer, check email, check a couple of web sites, and move to playing games. After all, I need to get fully awake before starting actual work.
The second moment of clarity came when I realize that the longer I'm inactive, the longer I tend to remain inactive. But once I get active, my tendency is to stay active for the rest of the day. So, I need to establish the habit of engaging in some kind of activity early in the day. I hope to get back in the habit of running two days during the week, but I still need to do something on the other days. So I found the FitTV channel, and set the goal of doing one thirty-minute workout each morning.
So far, I've met that goal four days in a row. Even ran one evening. Yeah!
Meanwhile, the tutoring IS successful enough that I've brought in two other teachers to help. I have an elementary teacher, so that I can now market to elementary schools. And I have a second math teacher to help me with the demand for math help. I hope this works out. No big risk, though. If either of these teachers doesn't work out, I can go back to a solo operation.
Until next time, I wish you well.
